What’s a Small Batch Tattoo?

Everyone wants a unique tattoo. But everyone also wants to be able to choose the perfect piece for them from a selection of works. Back in the day we sold tattoo flash for exactly this reason. Clients had a large selection to choose from and everyone one of them was designed to be perfect for tattooing.

Everyone is the same, everyone is unique.

Each small batch tattoo is unique in some way. The smallest of changes like colours, text, placement, body shape and skin tones all play a huge factor in making your tattoo completely unique. I’m also a human drawing on skin, so it’s almost impossible for me to create a 1 to 1 copy of anything even though I try every day!

I repeat every small batch tattoo a maximum of ten times. In my experience each and every ‘edition’ is a unique tattoo. Yes, it’s based on the original artwork but it’s customised by you, for you.

For many people (myself included) this is the ‘sweet spot’. A large choice of artwork to choose from that can be customised a little to make it ‘yours’.

Of course some people simply MUST the only one to wear a piece, and for those people I offer a small selection of ‘private stock’ tattoos that can only be viewed at my studio. You can find out more about them here.

Why No Titles?

Everyone wants their tattoo to mean something personal to them. But words and titles add meaning. I don’t want an arbitrary song title, that I may add to the piece only because it’s on my stereo at the point I save it, to influence what you think it’s ’all about’.

So I’ve removed any titles and given each piece a simple ‘catalog number’ in honour of one of my favourite Graphic Designers – Peter Saville.

I want you to add your own meaning to your artwork.

Your interpretation of the piece is no more or less important than mine. Yes, it may be different,  but that’s the point. My art is made to be interpreted and enjoyed in whatever way the viewers and/or owners see fit.

How many times have you listened to a song thinking it’s about one thing only to find, on reading the lyrics, that it’s about an entirely different subject?

All my artwork is made to be interpreted by you – the owner – and if it’s speaks to you in a certain way, then great. That’s  the meaning.

It’s your artwork. You decide what it’s about.

What Happens Once I’ve Bought My Artwork?

Firstly, Thankyou!

Once you’ve bought your artwork you’ll get an email to confirm your purchase. This email also contains a single use code for a 50% discount off your next artwork purchase that you can use at any time. If you have any problem using it, please email info@paultlbt.com and we’ll sort it out for you.

  • Your name and email address will be added to my list of clients waiting for an appointment and the next time my diary opens (approx every three months) you’ll be offered a slot to get tattooed.
  • This slot is held for 48hrs only.
  • If you’ve decided to go bigger and require multiple slots email Carron – info@paultlbt.com and she will organise them with you at a schedule to suit yourself and healing times etc.
  • You can also ask Carron any travel/allergy related questions too.
  • My entire process is Vegan and a close to carbon neutral as is possible.
  • After that, simply a case of waiting for your appointment.

Appointment Info

  • I start tattooing at 11am and usually aim to finish around 5:30pm. You can arrive at the shop anytime after 10:30am but please no earlier as you’ll just ‘get under our feet’ while we’re cleaning!
  • I usually stop around 3pm for food for about 30mins.
  • Vaping is currently permitted on the premises. No cloud competitions though.
  • I’ll make any changes to your artwork before I create your stencil.  I may need freehand some of the elements depending on placement and this can take a while. Please be patient. It’s a process.
  • Once stencils are dry and any freehand adjustments are made tattooing will begin. This is the time for you to make absolutely sure that you’re happy with everything. Tattooing is a permanent procedure and I can’t move your tattoo ‘over a bit’ once I’ve started. So please talk to me, I don’t bite!
  • Tattooing does hurt and yes, I do know this. Please sit still and in the position I put you in. You might be a little uncomfortable but – at this stage – all that matters is that you leave with a great tattoo – and the responsibility for that is 50% on you. I can’t tattoo a moving target and wriggling and complaining will just make your tattoo take longer and my back hurt.
  • Once we’ve finished I’ll take some pictures and go over aftercare with you. All aftercare is supplied as a part of the cost of your tattoo. This usually takes around 30 minutes and involves coffee.

I try to make every session as fun as I can and I enjoy a good chat while I’m working but if you prefer to wear headphones and listen music or watch movies then please say and I’ll shut up and get on with it. No worries.

I look forward to tattooing you soon.
