My Process
My Process
In the early days, flash was often hand-painted and displayed on shop walls, offering clients a convenient way to choose a tattoo. As tattooing evolved, so did flash—moving from simple, repeatable designs to more specialised and custom work.
Each year, for lovers of my artwork, I create a number of limited and single edition pieces. All designed to look great together or on their own. It’s nothing new, I sell my art in exactly the same way Tattooists have made and sold art since the late nineteenth century. The only difference being that it’s displayed on my website and made digitally.
Flash art re-invented for the 21st Century client? Possibly.
Each piece of artwork (unless mentioned otherwise) is designed to be completed in a single session and each tattoo session is charged at my current day rate.
Should you decide to make your tattoo bigger at a later stage or, if you’re planning a large piece like a sleeve for example, it’s very easy for you to do. You just buy another piece of artwork and I’ll ’marry’ it to your existing piece. Bigger tattoos take more sessions of course but I do this all the time and it always works really well.
You can also decide to make the piece bigger than a single session and this is fine too. All my pieces ‘scale’ really well and working on bigger pieces is something than I enjoy a lot.
When you see a piece you like just, purchase it from my website and, once the payment has completed, my wife Carron will add your name to the list of clients waiting for appointments. You’ll be allocated the required number of slots to complete your new tattoo the next time I open my diary . I open and close my diary throughout the year (every 3 months) so you won’t have too long to wait.
When Carron offers you an appointment she will ‘hold’ it for 48hrs. So make sure that you have told her your preferred day of the week (Wednesday, Friday, Sunday) to avoid missing out and having to wait another 3 months.
This email comes from ‘info@paultlbt.com’ so please add it to your address book to avoid it ending up in your junk!
You’ve purchased artwork from me. This is a non-refundable artwork license that isn’t covered by the UK sale of of goods act – T&C’s are »here«.
Because of this NO DEPOSIT is required to make a booking. However, In the event of a ‘no show’ for any reason, you will be asked to pay 50% up front (non refundable) for any future bookings.
Over the years is have found the complexity of my style makes it very hard to get a workable ‘brief’ from a client. So, I do very few fully custom pieces (about 4 a year) these are – because of the amount of work involved considerably more expensive than my regular pieces.
But you’re more than welcome to customise your piece a little. The smallest of changes like colours, text, placement, body shape and skin tones all play a huge factor in making your tattoo completely unique. These small changes can all be handled on the morning of your appointment.
If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to drop me an email and I’ll attempt to answer them for you.
